National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has been forced to respond to claims that one of their official was bitten by a snake on the buttocks while hiding in the Bush.
Speculations have been doing rounds on social media claiming that an NTSA official was bitten by a snake and died while being taken to Hospital.
According to a NTSA, the speculations are untrue, as no officer was attacked by a snake. They went ahead to ask Kenyans to ignore such rumors.
“That is not true. No NTSA officer has been attacked by a snake .We advise members of the public to ignore such rumors.” Reads NTSA Tweet
Despite the response given by the NTSA, a section of Kenyans on Twitter were no pleased by the answer, as they demand to know if its true that its officers have been hiding in the bush with speed guns.
"NTSA guy who was hiding in a bush along Salgaa Road to catch over speeding vehicles bitten by a snake on the buttocks and died on his way to the Hospital. Ile shetani iko Salgaa imevuta boza”
“Part A. of the question answered, now answer part B. Do your officers hide in bushes? NTSA logic of stopping road accidents is to hide in bush to trap people Instead of preventing, they are looking for encouraging for self gains” reads a tweet
Others said “So responds when you say their officer was bitten but when we report reckless driving they don’t respond, at some point I thought handle wasn’t active.”
" or climb trees? Bite them snakes"
"Mr. President you still have some more work to do over here.. The admin of this handle has not yet been released from his duties. He can still tweet about roads??!"
"Just get off our roads and stay away from us like Shisha!!! You have been Banned hehehe"
The response comes hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a directive sending home the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officers.
Speaking during the burial of three AIPCA bishops killed during a nasty accident, Mr. Kenyatta admitted that road carnages had increased in the country.
He instructed NTSA officers to be withdrawn from the roads and traffic police officers to continue maintaining law and orders on the Highways instead.
NTSA officials on the highway waende nyumbani waachie hiyo kazi police officers," he said.
NTSA has been blamed for the numerous accidents which have seen over 300 people lose their lives since December 2017
