Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has found himself in hot water after a scandalous tweet he made last week, accusing MPs in the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of demanding a Sh7.5 Million bribe to clear him in the National Youth Service (NYS) scam.

PAC chairman Nicholas Gumbo vowed to sue Mr Ngunyi over the remarks in which he stated that the committee was a ‘fellowship of thugs’.

“I am going to sue him,” the Rarieda MP noted.

At the same time, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire condemned the political scientist stating that: “If Ngunyi was honest on this grave matter, he would have made a report to detectives for investigation and action on such an individual or the entire PAC as he claimed.”

Last week Mr Ngunyi sensationally alleged that lawmakers in PAC asked him for money during the investigation of the Sh1.8 Billion NYS scandal in which he has been linked.

“PAC is a 'FELLOWSHIP of THUGS'. A DEMAND of 7.5M was made from me. I refused. Now they want me CHARGED with Perjury ,” Ngunyi tweeted.

Ngunyi’s sentiment comes a week after PAC tabled a report in parliament, implicating him in the infamous scam, in which his company allegedly pocketed Sh90 million of the loot.

“The Consulting House of chief Executive Officer Mutahi Ngunyi is culpable for plagiarism, perjury and willful withholding of information from the committee,” reads part of the report.

It adds: “He is, therefore, liable for failure to make full disclosure that he had been paid in excess of Sh100 million for other unspecified services from NYS.”
