President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday sent Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to neighboring country Tanzania following the horrific bus accident, which killed 32 pupils on Saturday morning.
Kenyatta asked Mr. Matiang’i to attend the funeral of the pupils who tragically died in Tanzania’s capital – Arusha.
The burial scheduled for Monday will also be attended by Tanzania President John Magufuli, his top government officials, and dignitaries from neighboring countries.
“Matiang’i will be delivering a message of condolence from President Kenyatta and the Kenyan people, he’s already in Arusha because he left early this (Monday) morning,” Capital FM quoted a source at State House.

The students from Luck Vincent School were headed to another school to undertake a mock exam when the accident happened.
The deceased were aged between 12-14 years.
The bus driver and two teachers on board were also killed in the crash.
Luckily, two of the students survived but were critically injured.
According to reports, the bus veered off the road and into the Marera river gorge in Karatu district.
Confirming the incident, Regional police commander Charles Mkumbo divulged that the accident happened when the bus was descending a steep hill under the rainy weather.
However, investigations are still underway to determine the cause of the accident.
