A former Governor who was recently appointed in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet has pulled a major move after he withdrew an election petition challenging his predecessor’s election.
Through a notice published in the local dailies, Ukuru Yattani announced that he had withdrawn an election petition where he challenged the election of Ali Mahamud Mohamed.
Yattani run on the Frontier Alliance Party, which supported President Kenyatta’s re-election, but lost to Mohamed of the Jubilee Party.
The former Governor is among three new entrants who were nominated to be part of Kenyatta’s new cabinet.
Others included former Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko and former Turkana Senator John Munyes. All the new nominees were not immediately allocated any portfolio.
Their names have since been taken to the National Assembly with the vetting process is expected to begin in the next few days.
