A lobby group has given the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a seven day ultimatum to run Raila Odinga’s integrity test and make it public.

In a renewed onslaught, through a letter dated April 4, Human Rights Africa Chief Executive Officer Mr Derrick Malika, argued that the former premier has been adversely mentioned in a vicious of scandals that saw the misappropriation of public funds, cannot be trusted and that he misused public office.

Making reference to the Siaya based Dominion Farms and the Kenya Airways woes where Odinga has been adversely mentioned, the lobby group has tasked the IEBC to speed up the investigations into the alleged bribery soliciting from the US investor Mr Calvin Burgess.

Mr Burgess earlier claimed that Raila Odinga was frustrating his business in Siaya, after he declined to give a kickback to him during the 2007 general elections, that would fund his campaigns.

In a 22-page statement to the press, Mr Burgess argued that the frustrations made him flee to the US.

“Mr Odinga is said to have installed and MCA (Mr Leonard Oriaro, Alego Ward) in the region to frustrate Mr Burgess’ planned expansion of the firm into the lands that have been legitimately acquired,” reads part of the letter.

Commenting on the recent woes in the national carrier Kenya Airways, the lobby group now wants a prudent investigation into allegations of a collusion to defraud the airline back in 2001.

Odinga's academic certifications, accrodng to the lobby group do not add up and now calls for ratified measures to unearth the truth.

“So far, he has only produced a certificate required in the years 1962 – 1965, Certificate of Higher Education, Herder Institute, Leipzig, German Democratic Republic, with competence in German language,” Malika said.

Malika added: “The lack of clarity emanates from the fact that the Otto Von Guericke University Magdeburg, the University Mr Odinga claims he attended only became a university in October 3, 1993 and hence could not have conferred a degree in 1970.”

He observed that other areas of interest for the IEBC to conduct investigations include the alleged involvement of Odinga in the Greenfield JKIA expansion project and the NHIF scandal through his close ally, Anyang, Nyong’o.

He stressed that there are serious questions of integrity over the education and financial transparency of a possible presidential candidate.

“It is our complaint that the IEBC probe the above and other incidental allegations against Odinga and make the findings of such a probe public as a matter of general public concern and interest,” he stated.

Raila Odinga is yet to respond to these allegations.
