Why I dressed up like Jesus - American evangelist explains

American actor and preacher Michael Job caused a fuss over the weekend after photos of him in Ongata Rongai and Kitengela surfaced online.

The reason why he caused such a buzz was because of his uncanny resemblance to Hollywood's depiction of Jesus.

Thanks to many movies and modern-depictions of Jesus, a lot of people think that Jesus is blue-eyed with blonde hair although that’s highly unlikely as he was Jewish.

For his crusades in Kenya, Job wore a long white robe with long sleeves and a blue mantle draped across his body.

Explaining his ‘Jesus’ outfit Job said “I dressed up as Jesus during these (Ongata Rongai, Kitengela, and Kiserian) crusades and I performed many plays focusing on the life of Christ. Some people, known as ‘internet trolls’, have made false reports about me claiming to be Jesus, Jesus’ second coming starting in Kenya, me being found and worshipped in churches, and me being deported with pastors from the country, all of which are fake news.”

He also addressed claims that he had been deported. “Just to let you know there have been many false ‘fake news’ reports here in Kenya about me. I just did 9 days of crusades in Ongata Rongai, Kitengela, and Kiserian Kenya where many people were saved and healed…I have gotten many messages and just wanted to let you know I am still here in Kenya, preaching in schools, hundreds of children are making decisions for Jesus every day. This morning many students surrendered their lives to Jesus, and we are going to the next school right now. Thank you for praying for us, also please do not pay any attention to the ‘fake news’ or any attention to the media publications of which posted these things. May the Lord abundantly bless you!”

‘Jesus’ lookalike Daniel Christos

This is not the first time a ‘Jesus’ lookalike has caused a stir on social media.

Three years ago, another ‘Jesus’ lookalike named Daniel Christos caused a stir on social and mainstream media after walking barefoot on Moi Avenue with people snapping photos and shouting ‘Jesus’ as he passed by.

But unlike Job who seems to enjoy the attention coming his way, Christos seemed uncomfortable with the spectacle especially since some Kenyan offered to crucify him at Ngong Hills alongside two thieves Waiguru and Kabura.

“I arrived in Kenya less than 2 weeks ago from Ethiopia and have been welcomed with so much enthusiasm like I've never experienced before in my life. In fact, it's been so extreme that it's been a little overwhelming. Every single corner I walk on in Nairobi I have noticed someone either taking a photo or video while hundreds of times a day I hear people calling out "Jesus!” Kenyan people, in general, have been very friendly and loving,” he wrote.

The man from Perth Western Australia then went on to add “I AM NOT JESUS! I HAVE NEVER PRETENDED TO BE. I am a traveller who has come to your country as a visitor, I would hope that one day if Jesus does return you treat him with a little more respect than you have treated me.”
