Mixed reactions as Larry Madowo feasts on Mice in Malawi (Video)

Media Personality Larry Madowo has ignited mixed reactions on social media after putting up a video feasting on mice while in Malawi to cover their Elections.

Madowo who works for BBC Africa, shared a video while eating a roasted mouse by the road side following an encounter with Malawian’s who sell them.

“I ate a mouse, for the first time and it was, well, amazing! Mice (not rats!) are a delicacy among the Chewa of central Malawi. I will eat anything and I had to try these. They’re eaten whole with the skin and everything. Tastes just like chicken #wanderlust #goeverywhere#eateverything” wrote Larry Madowo.

However, the video has attracted different sentiments among his followers basing on the fact that, Mice are not openly eaten by a large number of Kenyans.

In Kenya the Chonyi and Giriama people from Kilifi County are known for eating Mice and rats.

The consuming clans that live mainly in Kilifi County regard Mice and rats meat as a very delicious food and it is not unusual to encounter local people hunting for them.
