Man hangs himself with mosquito net

His body was hanging from a noose that was fashioned from a mosquito net.

A 42-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree and his body was found dangling from a tree in Nyamira County.

The deceased, Charles Monene Nyatete is said to have taken his own life after the death of his wife, Carren Kwamboka Monene.​

According to Citizen, the area Chief Cosmas Mocha said Charles disappeared on Sunday, May 27 after he found out that his wife had died.

He also said that the family, which went searching for Charles, found his body hanging from a noose that was fashioned from a mosquito net.

His body was taken to the mortuary as police continued to investigate.

A section of youth in Nyaribari Chache have come under fire for recording and making fun of an elderly man as he committed suicide by jumping into River Gucha.

His family in Mwamonda village has appealed for help to find his body which was swept away by the raging torrents.

In the video posted on social media, a youth is seen attempting to rescue the man, who looks drunk, at the bank of the largest river in Kisii, but he seems determined to take his life. The rescuer then gives up.

“He is gone, the story is done,” a voice of the person recording the video is heard saying. Earlier, the youth are heard cheering the man on before one of them went to rescue him in vain.

The video ends as the man goes far and deep into the overflowing waters of River Gucha, leaving behind his phone, shoes and coat. The youth are left emptying the coat as they walk away.
