Kenyans reveal the mistakes the president made in choosing his cabinet

President Uhuru Kenyatta was the subject of a ruthless attack on social media shortly after he announced his cabinet.

From the reactions of Netizens, President Uhuru Kenyatta left many Kenyans disappointed with his list of nominees for the various Cabinet Secretaries with additional slots created.

The president also came under harsh criticism after he announced the new position of Chief Administrative Secretary.

With each ministry having a CS and a Principal Secretary, many failed to understand the role of the new position with some pointing out that it was simply a way of creating positions to reward his cronies.

Others took issues with the new cabinet pointing out that it would burden the taxpayer at a time when the wage bill is ballooning and with the country borrowing heavily.

International bodies such as the World Bank and the IMF have already raised a red flag over Kenya’s borrowing and spending.

Some questioned the criteria used to select the CSs, noting that the careers and educational qualifications of some of the nominees were not in any way related to their ministries.

Netizens also bashed the president for nominating Jubilee party secretary general Raphael Tuju to the cabinet without any ministry for which he would be responsible.

The recycling of political rejects was also criticised.
