One cup of cooked spinach contains about 6mg of iron. Although adults require an average of 18 milligrams of iron per day, spinach is one of the foods that are so rich in iron. In order to have the recommended amounts of iron per day, you would have to eat three cups of spinach in a day.

2. Potassium

Surprisingly, spinach contain more Potassium than bananas. Potassium promotes digestion, healthy bones and also lowers the blood pressure thus preventing heart diseases.

3. Healthy eyes

Spinach contains vitamins and antioxidants that are good for the health of the eyes. The antioxidant lutein, which is present in spinach reduces the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration.

4. Healthy hair and nails

Spinach has enough nutrients that can help with your beauty purposes. It has vitamin C and A which promote healthy hair and nails. Vitamin A helps in the production of sebum which lubricates the skin and hair. Vitamin C on the other hand helps in the growing of stronger hair.

5. Weight loss

It’s low in calories and studies have also shown that it has a filling effect thus helping you manage appetite. The good thing about spinach is that you can make smoothies with it or salads if you don’t like its cooked version.

6. Gives you energy

Just like bananas, spinach has Magnesium which gives you the energy you need to go about your daily routines. It also contains folate which very important especially during pregnancy.
