We all know how the latest episode of Game of Thrones ends: In one of the most tragic deaths of the season so far, Missandei is beheaded by The Mountain atop the walls of King's Landing, while Daenerys, Tyrion, Grey Worm, and our other friends from the North look on. But what you may not know is the meaning of Missandei's last words before she dies: "dracarys."
Sounds familiar, right? We've definitely heard it on Game of Thrones before - but when?
What does "dracarys" mean?
"Dracarys" is the nifty command Dany uses when she wants her dragons to breathe fire. For instance, you may recall her saying it before Samwell Tarly's brother, Dickon, was consumed by flames for refusing to bend the knee. Put simply, "dracarys" is what Dany says before she unleashes MAJOR death and destruction.
By choosing "dracarys" as her last words, Missandei was telling Dany to go ham on King's Landing. F*** s*** up. Burn it to the ground. You get the idea.
Even before Missandei's death, it seems like that's what Dany had in mind as she traveled toward the Iron Throne.
"I'm here to free the world from tyrants," she told Varys in an earlier scene. "That is my destiny, and I will serve it no matter the cost."
Judging by the look on Dany's face as Missandei's head fell to the ground, there's gonna be some serious "dracarys"-ing up in King's Landing in the near future, if you know what we mean.
