What Happened To Mari Gilbert's Daughters—Sheree, Stevie, Sarra—And Where Are They Now?

An escort, Shannan went missing on Long Island in May 2010. But before that, she placed a 9-1-1 where she reportedly said, "They are trying to kill me." The Netflix film focuses on Mari as she tries to get police to help figure out what happened to her daughter, while they say there was no foul play.

Maris insistence ended up leading police to discover 10 other dead bodies and sparked a larger investigation around sex workers who had been murdered by a criminal known as the Long Island Serial Killer. (The killer has never been caught.) A year after her disappearance, Shannans body was eventually found miles away from the other bodies.

The movie largely focuses on Mari, but it also reveals, in part, her relationship with her four daughters. Heres everything you need to know about Mari Gilbert's daughters, including where they are now.

In Lost Girls, Sheree confronts Mari about giving Shannan away to foster care. That actually happened in real life, according to Kolker's book, when Shannan was just 7 years old.

Saraa murdered her mother and is now in jail.

In 2016, Maris 27-year-old daughter, Sarra, fatally stabbed her mom more than 200 times and hit her with a fire extinguisher, NBC reported.

John Ray, an attorney for the family, said that Sarra was mentally ill and had been hearing voices. He also said that Sarra had gone to her moms house because she was hallucinating, and she ended up killing her mom who was "trying to help her mentally ill daughter."

Sarra was eventually sentenced to 25 years to life in prison, according to the Daily Freeman.

Sheree and Stevie are still trying to figure out what happened to Shannan.

Since Maris death, Sheree and Stevie (along with Ray) have continued their mother's work in seeking justice for Shannan.

"She was broken down and depressed, and she was a poor poverty-stricken person," Ray told People of Mari. "She was a single mom trying to raise kids and grandkids. She did what any mother would try to do for her kids. I just cant not do it. That is what Mari would have wanted. She pursued this case relentlessly."

Sheree keeps a Facebook page to honor Shannan's memory.

The second-oldest sister currently oversees a Facebook page called Praying for Shannan Maria Gilbert , which is dedicated to trying to solve Shannan's murder. Lately, she's posted about Lost Girls and updates on the case.
