Meghan McCain and husband Ben Domenech shared some exciting news with fans over the weekend: Shes pregnant.

Meghan made the big reveal in a lengthy Instagram post that acknowledged that yeah, she wishes the climate was a little different right now.

Although this isnt how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all, she began. Meghan said she consulted with her doctors, who said she should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with. So, she and her husband Ben Domenech are practicing social distancing due to COVID-19 concerns . Meghan said she still plans to appear on The Viewshell just do it via satellite.

The happy news comes less than a year after Meghan shared in an op-ed for The New York Times last year that she had suffered a miscarriage . For a brief moment, I had the privilege of seeing myself in the sisterhood of motherhood, she wrote at the time. I had a miscarriage. I loved my baby, and I always will. To the end of my days I will remember this childand whatever children come will not obscure that.

While youre probably pretty familiar with Meghan, her husband Ben Domenech typically stays out of the spotlight. Here's what you need to know about Ben and his marriage to Meghan.

The couple hasnt talked much about how they met.

When the two got engaged in 2017, Meghan said on The View that they had been dating for years before that. Other than that, she didn't offer up many details.

Ben was comfortable around Meghans dad, the late senator John McCain.

[Ben] works in politics and has for a long time so he wasnt as intimidated, Meghan said on The View when she got engaged. He actually met my dad at my brothers wedding for the first time and ended up talking about health care or something very wonky."

John also went on The View and called Ben a very fine man.

Hes also a conservative.

Ben is the founder of the conservative news website, The Federalist . Meghan shared on The View that her husband is, "so conservative. Hes funny in his own way.

Before Ben and Meghan got engaged, he was linked to several controversies. Ben was hired to write for The Washington Posts conservative blog Red America in 2006, but resigned three days later after claims surfaced that he had plagiarized some of his stories, per The Daily Mail .

He also faced criticism after it was alleged that he wrote favorable propaganda pieces about the Malaysian government in 2013 for The Washington Examiner and San Francisco Chronicle and didnt disclose the payments at the time. (The stories were later pulled.)

Ben also lashed out at Seth Meyers on Twitter after Meghan and Seth got into a heated conversation on Late Night. He later said that he thinks Seth is a hack but apologized for his comments.

Hes been a rock for Meghan.
