Two people have been confirmed dead while three others have been rushed to hospital following a head-on collision between a Probox vehicle and a fuel truck.
The Sunday morning accident occurred at Gwa Kariba area along the Mwea-Embu highway in Kirinyaga County.
The injured were rushed to Mwea level 5 hospital while the bodies of the deceased were also taken to the same facility.
Area residents blamed the sharp bends along the busy highway for the accident and urged the government to erect speed bumps and road signage to avert future accidents.

Police who arrived at the scene of the crash shortly after the accident divulged that the Probox was transporting miraa from Embu to Nairobi while the truck was headed in the opposite direction.
Investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the accident.
