Several people, among them an ambulance driver and a patient escaped death narrowly after an ambulance burst into flames.
The ambulance belonging to Turkana County burst into flames on Friday night shortly after dropping a patient at Lodwar County and Referral Hospital.
According to the Daily Nation, security guards at the hospital saw smoke coming from the vehicle's front part before it suddenly burst in flames.
Turkana Central sub-county police boss David Mburukwa confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
Yesterday's incident was the latest accident involving an ambulance belonging to the devolved units.
In August 2019, an ambulance belonging to Kirinyaga County veered off the road and landed into a ditch, killing one patient.
The ambulance driver is said to have been overtaking a saloon car on his way to Kerugoya Hospital when the accident happened at the Kerugoya-Kutus road.
