Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji was on Monday left shocked after he found empty seats for a scheduled meeting with MPs forming the National Assembly Justice & Legal Affairs Committee.
Haji arrived at Continental House in time for the presentation of the 2019/2020 Budget Policy Statement which had been set to start at 10 am, but there was no one in the room where the meeting was to take place.
The members of the committee instead arrived after the set time, much to the surprise of the DPP.
During the presentation, DPP Haji requested that his department should receive a better pay as the judiciary.
"Judiciary staff earn 4 times more than us... My deputy earns salary of Senior Resident Magistrate" stated Haji.
NTSA and banks facilitated the Dusit attack
The tough talking Haji further noted that corruption played a role in facilitating terrorism
"If we are going to succeed against corruption & terrorism, we need proper & effective banking regulations,” remarked the DPP.
He went to point out that the NTSA and banks had facilitated the Dusit attack that had left 21 people dead and several others injured.
