The election results are still being tallied and we are slowly but surely approaching a time when the country will know its leaders for the next five years.
However, there's are a few rules we Kenyans need to follow for today
1. Avoid big crowds
Stay away from big crowds especially if they are discussing politics. If possible, keep your circle for the day to a minimal and avoid areas where people are holding political forums for any particular reason.
2. Block videos of chaos
Unfortunately, most of the videos and pictures that are being shared on various social media platforms are a lie. These include the Mombasa Road road block. That was a picture from yesterday when a child was hit along the road. Another is the Mombasa video showing an on going demonstration. The video dates back a few years ago to a demonstration that occurred in Mombasa town.
4. Avoid inciteful messages
Yes, you hold the freedom of speech but not when it is inciteful. Share only helpful information and those that you have verified from a legally recognized media house.
5. Fear violence
Instead, advocate for peace by keeping your stand known and asking others to remain peaceful.
6. Stay online
It can be pretty worrying for your family and friends if they cannot find you on phone at such a time. Keep your communication gadgets fully charged and with enough air time so that you can call and be called at whatever time.
