Former Tetu MP Ndung’u Gethenji has been caught up in an ugly fight with his elder brother Gitahi Gethenji, over the control of the posh Kihingo Estate in Nairobi’s Kitsuru estate.

On Tuesday, NTV shared a video where the two brothers got into a confrontation that nearly turned physical as each sought to control the club house shared by residents at the gated community.

Kihingo Village is one of the city’s most prestigious addresses that is home to among others – Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru , Radio Africa CEO William Pike, and Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri.

It features 55 maisonettes, each with a swimming pool and sitting on a half acre piece of land .

A section of home owners in the estate have teamed up with Gitahi to wrestle control from Ndungu – who built the prestigious estate.

The former MP has a controlling stake in Kihingo Village (Waridi Gardens) Limited and Kihingo Village (Waridi) Management One Limited (KVWGML), which owns the high-end estate.

Home owners were given one share in KVWGML for each house they owned. With 55 house units and 117 shares – Ndung’u retained a controlling stake (60 shares) with administrative powers on common spaces including shopping malls and club houses which he said were not part of the purchasing agreement with the home owners.

The residents, together with Gitahi, recently lost a court battle seeking to scrap off Ndungu’s controlling stake.

They had argued that once the houses were sold, Ndungu ought to have relinquished all his shares and distributed them to the home owners.

A previous court order had barred Ndungu from accessing the estate until the matter was heard which became the subject of the heated exchange as the brothers each claimed control over the club house.
