Kenya's ambassador to South Sudan, Chris Karumba Mburu died on Sunday night.
Authorities reported that the ambassador collapsed and died while his family broke the news on Monday morning disclosing that he had a heart attack while at his station in Juba.
Amb. Karumba previously served as the National Intelligence Service (NIS) director.
A statement by President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned the envoy as a great public servant.
"Death has robbed us of a great public servant who served his country with distinction. Since his appointment as our envoy to Juba, Ambassador Mburu has worked hard to ensure free flow of trade and investment between Kenya and South Sudan. Kenya has lost a brilliant public servant whose star was shining bright and whose service shall be dearly missed," the President's statement read.
Vivian Talash Ntimama
The death comes soon after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs lost another staff member, Ms Vivian Talash Ntimama.
Vivian died while abroad on January 31, 2020 and was buried in Kenya on February 16.
She was eulogized as "a patriot and a devoted civil servant who dedicated herself to the service of our country and its people".
