Nakuru county assembly Majority Leader Stanley Karanja on Monday handed in his resignation letter.
He cited health complications as well as pressure from various quarters as the reasons for his resignation.
Karanja has been in the middle of leadership wrangles within the assembly, chief among them being the removal of 12 nominated Jubilee party MCAs from various county committees.

A Letter from Raphael Tuju
The MCAs launched a formal complaint with the Jubilee party asking the officials to act on the majority leader.
Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju wrote to Speaker Joel Maina Kairu advising the county assembly leadership not to take any action against the 12 MCAs.
A heated altercation between leaders at the county assembly caused Tuju to issue summons for Karanja and Majority Whip Irene Chebichi.
Karanja ignored the summons stating that the decision to remove the MCAs was "adopted by the selection committee which is spearheaded by the Speaker."
The assembly will resume its sittings on February 12, 2019 where they are expected to select a new majority leader.
