A photo of a Sh1.2 billion house allegedly owned by Deputy President William Ruto has caused a stir on social media.

The Star published of an expansive luxury home in Eldoret that was reportedly built at a whopping Sh1.2 billion by the Deputy President.

The aerial photo showed that the home would occupy 20 acres. The main house would sit on one side with a man-made lake separating it from six other house (presumably guest houses and servant quarters.

After publication, there were varied reactions as Kenyans on social media some admired the beauty of the plush home while others questioned the source of funds used in building the country home.

The land where the house sits is part of 700-acre farm owned by the Deputy President. He has however denied building a country home at the cost of Sh1.2 Billion.

"I would be daft to take Sh1.2 billion to a village to build a house in which I will stay for a week a year. That story is ridiculous," Ruto stated in a past interview.
