Jubilee Senator's son appointed as new DPP

Uhuru has forwarded the name to the National Assembly for approval.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Noordin Mohamed Haji as the next Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

"I have conveyed to the National Assembly the nomination for vetting and approval of Justice Paul Kihara Kariuki as Attorney General; and Noordin Mohamed Haji as Director of Public Prosecutions,"  President Kenyatta stated.

Mr Noordin is the son to Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji.

He is in line to replace Dr Keriako Tobiko who was nominated and subsequently appointed as the Environment Cabinet Secretary.

The DPP selection panel had shortlisted three applicants to replace Tobiko.

The team settled on Lucy Kambuni, Jacob Nyakundi, and Noordin Haji.

Haji previously served as the National Intelligence Service Deputy Director.
