Pesident Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday appointed Labour CS Ukur Yattani to act as the Cabinet Secretary in the Treasury docket following the prosecution of Henry Rotich on corruption charges.
In a statement to newsrooms, President Kenyatta explained that the appointment was a measure to ensure that operations at Treasury continue smoothly.
"In order to ensure smooth operations and continuity at the National Treasury and in line Ministries following the Court Order affecting the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Planning Mr Henry Rotich and the Principal Secretary for the National Treasury Dr Kamau Thugge, His Excellency the President has made the following changes to the organization of Government:

"Hon. (Amb.) Ukur Yatani Kanacho, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, assumes, in Acting Capacity the Cabinet Secretary responsibility for National Treasury and Planning," the statement read in part.
Kamau Thugge has, however, been replaced by PS Planning Dr Julius Muia who now assumes the role of Treasury Principal Secretary.

Immigration PS Gordon Kihalangwa has been moved in the reshuffle and now takes up the PS role in the Ministry of Defence.
Torome Saitoti has taken up the PS Planning role at the Treasury docket.

DPP Noordin Haji had mentioned that the two Treasury officials would be required to step aside after taking a plea on the charges brought against them in connection with the Sh19 billion Arror and Kimwarer Dams scandal.
They have denied the charges listed by the DPP against them.
