“Let him not play politics with development and the lives of our people,” Namwamba warned.
Namwamba said he could not rule out economic sabotage after the Standard Gauge Railway was targeted and castigated those who were seeking to use the incident to gain political mileage.
The Budalangi legislator termed the incident as catastrophic and expressed his deep sympathy to all those injured after the collapse of the bridge.
He said that he had consulted with President Uhuru Kenyatta who assured his support to ensure the construction of the bridge will be completed.
Namwamba further revealed that the government had undertaken to foot for the medical bills of those injured in the incident.
Raila on Sunday blasted Kenyatta for commissioning 'shoddy work’ and blamed the Jubilee Government for overseeing an unprofessional job that was marred with corruption.
The bridge collapsed just two weeks after Kenyatta inspected and launched it in Budalangi.
Raila likened the collapse of the bridge to the imminent fall of the Jubilee Government under President Kenyatta.
Meanwhile, the government has suspended the construction of the bridge.
Infrastructure PS John Mosonik said the suspension stands until an integrity report on the project is ready.
He said an investigative arm of the government will look into the matter to rule out any possible foul play.
