The Kenya National Union of Teachers has insisted that the strike is still on despite the court orders to put a stop to the strike.
Speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday, Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion made it clear that not even the court orders will stop them.
This was after a failed conciliatory meeting with the Teachers Service Commission and Sossion noted that they are going to start the biggest ever strike.

Knut issued a strike threat in December to protest the massive teachers’ transfers, lack of promotions and the performance based contracting. According to Sossion, the transfers were yet to be approved by the appointing board and the strike will only stop if their demands are met.
TSC had obtained a court order to temporarily stop the strike as the two parties (Knut and TSC) held further discussions. However, the TSC officials failed to show up yesterday for the conciliatory meeting with Knut officials. Knut, on the other hand is expected to challenge the order in court today.
