Money belonging to Equity Bank in Moyale is said to have been stolen by suspected robbers in Marsabit County.
A police report indicated that the money, which was being ferried in an aircraft, was taken from the crew who had been at gunpoint by three men.
The pilot told officers that upon landing in Moyale, he went to check the fuel level when three men ambushed him from the waiting bay at gunpoint and ordered him and his team to lay on the ground.
They opened the door of the aircraft and removed two sacks among the three containing an unknown sum of money before fleeing the scene.
Escape plan
The third sack also containing an unknown amount of money was however left inside the aircraft.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects escaped through the fence by cutting through it.
Reports claim that no prior security arrangements had been made by the Equity Bank Manager to protect the cash upon arrival.
No arrest has been made even as police indicate that three people have been interrogated as investigations commence.
