President Uhuru Kenyatta hit out at politicians who accused him of stealing from the public.

Speaking on Tuesday at the 6th Annual Devolution Conference, the President warned politicians against making reckless remarks on the war on graft.

President Kenyatta noted that Kenyans would not do away with the vice if the agencies given the mandate to investigate and prosecute would not be allowed to do their work.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

The Head of State maintained that the war on corruption would go on and asked those implicated to lawyer up and prove their innocence instead of using funeral ceremonies to defend themselves.

Present evidence

"Niliona mwingine amesema nimeiba mali ya nani. Mimi namwambia, tembea hapo Karua Forest ofisi ziko hapo. Kwenda useme kile Uhuru ameiba, shida iko wapi jamani? (I saw someone say I had stolen. I want to tell them to Karura the office is there. Go and tell them what Uhuru has stolen. Where is the problem?)" President Kenyatta asked.

"Hii mambo ya kutishatisha tisha watu kwa sababu umetaja mambo kwa mazishi, huyo mtu hatakusaidia. Yule mtu ana uwezo wa kukusaidia ni DCI, enda huko useme umepeleka kesi hii, na Uhuru Kenyatta ameiba nini (This issue of threatening people while speaking at funerals as if that person will help you and they won't should stop. The person who can help you is the DCI, go there tell them you have a case and say what Uhuru has stolen)," he added.

He further reiterated that the war on corruption was not aimed at an individual or any community.

Judiciary's role

The President also called upon the Judiciary to play its part to ensure that the wheels of justice in the war against graft move with speed.

He further stated that his administration had put in place a proactive program of prevention as well as asset recovery that will serve to guard the public coffers.

The President also noted that those who have benefited from the proceeds of economic crime in the past surrender their ill-gotten gains.
