‘Sumu la Penzi’ actress Neomi Ng’ang’a has landed a new job as the Executive Director of ‘Miss Plus World Kenya’.

The organisation aims at putting the African Woman on a pedestal for the whole world to see and appreciate. It will also help women develop confidence and elegance.

Commenting on her new role, Neomi said “Beauty has so many forms, and I think the most beautiful thing is being confident and loving yourself. The very first Miss Plus World Kenya beauty pageant will be a launching pad for the world to appreciate the African Woman in all her splendour. The pageant will empower women to develop the confidence and elegance, here at home and beyond. My mandate as the Executive Director is to run Kenya's first ever Plus Size Beauty pageant.”

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

Team Curvy

Prior to the launch of ‘Miss Plus World Kenya’, Neomi had started a movement for Team Curvy in Kenyan to celebrate curves in all their glory. She also launched Style by Neomi a fashion line that caters to the plus size women who want stylish clothes but can’t find them in their size or can't find a good fit.

“I have a clothing line called ‘Style by Neomi’. I started a movement for curvy women (Team Curvy) and people would ask where I get my clothes, where I shop and how I manage to dress sexy. That’s where the interest stemmed from. Before that, it was a hustle for me to get clothes that fit, a lot of plus size sections couldn’t match my styles and any stores that carried plus sizes were maternity wear. If I ordered online some stuff wouldn’t fit the way I wanted. So I saw the gap in the market and thought, why not be the one to fill it?” she told The Nation.
