The jaw-dropping amount Diamond was paid to perform in Naivasha
He performed during a New Year's eve party at Naivasha for millions.
Diamond spent the night at the posh Hemingways Hotel in Karen ahead of the Chrome Invasion New Year Party at Crayfish Camp Naivasha.
Word on the street was that Diamond was paid one million Kenya shillings to perform while other performers got much less. But the 1 Million figure is far from the truth as a source (from the organizing team) who spoke to pulselive.co.ke on condition of anonymity revealed. The ‘Marry You’ hitmaker made 6.5 Million Kenyan Shillings that night which shouldn’t come as a surprise as he was paid 5 Million for the Ameru Festival last year.
The organisers also paid 105,000 Kenya Shillings on Day 1 for the singer to sleep at Hemmingways and on day two 156,000 Kshs was spent at Enashipai Resort & Spa in Naivasha. The organisers also catered for his and his entourage's plane tickets and travel in the country.
It may seem a little steep for some people, but all the payments made to Diamond and for Diamond are in line with a statement released last year by Diamond’s management. According to the statement, the singer charges 40,000 dollars (4.1 Million Kshs) per performance but if you delay and they release the song in the middle of the month you will part with an additional 5,000 Dollars (516,550 Kshs).
In addition, the organizers should provide 8 Economy and 2 Business class return air tickets for his team, accommodation should be 4 double rooms, one single room and one Presidential Suite room. Since Diamond is Muslim, pork or any pork product is strictly forbidden from the backstage but other snacks, water and juice are allowed.
No one else is allowed on stage while Diamond is performing except his dancers and authorized figures like two members of Diamond’s security team and their Dj. Video shooting is also unacceptable unless there is a prior agreement between Wasafi and the client.
While Diamond was raking in the big bucks in Naivasha other members of Wasafi were reaping big in Kenya.
Rayvanny was headlining the NRGWave Concert by Captain Morgan at the Wild Waters in Mombasa while Rich Mavoko performed at a New Year’s party at Safari Park Nairobi.
