While some in her position might appeal in a bid to reduce the sentence Lulu ordered her family not to appeal the sentence.
This was disclosed by her close family friend Dr Cheni who told Mwananchi newspaper that “Kusema ukweli Lulu alijua lolote linaweza kutokea ila la kufungwa ni kama hakulipa kipaumbele sana, jaji alipomaliza kusoma hukumu alishtuka kama sisi wengine wote lakini ajabu alikuwa wa kwanza kurudi katika hali ya kawaida na kutoa kauli za ujasiri.” ( Lulu expected anything would happen but didn’t think too much about serving time. Even when the judge finished reading his sentence she was shocked like the rest of us but put on a brave face and made a bold statement.)
Dr Cheni added that Lulu accepted her fate as the will of God and promised not to fight the sentence but serve her time in peace.

“Sipingani na maamuzi ya Mungu, haya ni maamuzi yake na nimekubaliana nayo. Ana makusudi yake kunipa hiki kilichotokea leo. Acheni miaka miwili siyo mingi, sitaki kupingana na mahakama, naheshimu maamuzi ya mahakama, acheni nitumikie kifungo changu.” Lulu said as reported by DR Cheni. (I will not fight God’s decision, this was his plan for me and I have accepted it. He knows why I was sentenced to prison. Two years is little time and I don’t want to fight the court’s resolution, I respect their decision let me do my time.)
