As other celebrities gun for political seats at the county or national setting, a radio presenter has chosen a different but equally daunting prospect of seeking office at Kenya's biggest football club.

A popular radio presenter has caused shocks among the local football fraternity after announcing his intention to vie for a powerful position in one of the country’s top two biggest clubs.

Joseph Ogidi, known to many as Gidiogidi or just Gidi has announced his intention to vie for the Secretary General position at Gor Mahia in the club’s forthcoming elections to elect officials.

Equally surprised were his fans and they expressed their surprise as soon as the presenter announced his intention on social media as well as accompanying poster.

Joseph Ogidi is a radio presenter for the breakfast show at Radio Jambo which he co-hosts with former Harambee stars coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee.

His announcement comes at a time when most celebrities and prominent personalities in showbiz are opting for political posts in the country’s parliament and local government.

His choice of going for sport management is thus unique and makes for an interesting switch.

It will however be no easy walk in the park given how Gor Mahia’s elections are usually vicious affairs.

Already there had been chaos over what several members termed as delay and postponement of the elections by the incumbent officers.

It was only a couple of days ago that the Chairman Ambrose Rachier announced that the elections will be held on 11th December far much later than what members claim was a date in February.

The current secretary general is Ronald Ngala. Should he sail through the elections test, Joseph Ogidi will have to deal with the task of steering a volatile working environment with hard to please fans.
