Kartelo was not our employee - New twist as Ebru TV issues statement after Chipukeezy exit

Ebru TV explains

Chipukeezy announces new home for his Show, after fall out with Ebru TV

Ebru TV Management has given its stand on Chipukeezy and Kartelo’s exit from the station, stating that the fast-rising comedian (Kartelo) was not their employee.

In a statement, the station outlined that they decided to end their relationship with Kartelo after he failed to deliver on a task given to him in line with the ongoing census exercise.

According to Ebru TV, Kartelo was only a permanent feature on "The Chipukeezy Show" due to an honorary agreement made with Chipukeezy.

Lots of “ghetto-ness on the Show

The TV station pointed out that Kartelo had been commissioned to shoot and promote a number of campaign videos for the ongoing census exercise on his personal social media platforms at a fee, but failed to honor the agreement.

The statement added that they did not part ways with Kartelo due to what Chipukeezy termed as lots of “ghettoness” on the Show, but failure by the former to deliver.

“We need to clarify that Kartelo was not an employee of Ebru Television and he was not in the payroll either. The only official agreement that the station had with Kartelo is on a census campaign.

"The honorary agreement with Chipukeezy, availed the opportunity for Kartelo to be a regular guest on his show as well as relied solely and full on their ability to leverage their performances on TV , as well as on-line platforms and help promote Ebru and its partnerships, which are vital to Ebru’s growth and sustainability,” reads part of the statement.

It continued: “Please note that as of August 23, 2019 we did not have any issues with The Chipukeezy Show and was to go on as normal. Ebru did not terminate Kartelo for what Chipukeezy claims as ‘ghetto-ness’ but we no longer wanted to work with him which is our right as the management of Ebru.”

On Monday, Chipukeezy made it public that he had parted ways with Ebru TV after they asked him to drop Kartelo from his show.

The former Churchill show comedian, has now shifted the show to his YouTube Channel.
