Top Reggae DJ Chris Odhiambo aka Kriss Darlin has joined the race to replace the late Ken Okoth as the next Member of Parliament for Kibra Constituency.

Information shared with the public indicated that Kriss has already registered with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and he will be among candidates shortlisted for party nominations.

The news about the NTV’s Jamrock host joining politics was first shared on social media by media personality Carol Radull.

The reggae spin master Kriss was born and raised in the Kibera slums.

On Monday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that the Kibra Constituency by-election will be held on November 7, 2019.

A gazette notice directed all political parties intending to participate in the by-election to forward names of aspirants who will participate in the party primary elections as well as the date of the primaries on or before Monday August 26, 2019.

Independent candidates are required to submit their names and symbol to IEBC on the same date.

Kriss Darlin’s announcement elicited mixed reactions among his fans, a section arguing that he could have chosen another party instead of ODM.
