Buruklyn Boyz's song rated among 7 best drill tracks around the world

'Dream ya kutoka kwa block' has over 500k views on YouTube.

Dream ya kutoka kwa block by Buruklyn Boyz listed among 7 hard drill tracks from around the world by GRM.

Kenyan drill stars, Mr Right and Ajay, aka Buruklyn Boyz's dream of making it out of the hood might come true in the blink of an eye. This is after their song Dream ya Kutoka kwa Block was listed among the hardest drill songs from across the globe.

The seven songs list was drafted by Grime and Rap Music (GRM) Daily, an urban British music outlet and entertainment platform. Through their website, GRM credited the duo's contribution to the growth of drill in Kenya.

"Kenya has a huge Drill scene, which is continuing to grow. The Buruklyn Boyz are part of the reason it’s grown so much in the country. A distinct sound on the beats keeps everything fresh, along with the crisp visuals," read the statement.

It’s been a steady rise for Buruklyn Boyz who first started gaining a fandom with their early singles – particularly Durag na Slice, which they followed up with a number of cult classics.

It was the release of Nairobi, however, that truly made them a force to reckon with, and arguably some of the biggest stars in African drill which has also taken root in other countries including Sudan and Rwanda.

Artists from the two East African countries were also highlighted in the list. From Sudan, 249TooDope and Eaz Da Bully were credited to be the first drill artists, with their song; Asly.

"The beat, which is produced by a familiar name in Hargo, works well with the playful rhythms of both rappers," read the statement from GRM.

From Rwanda, Ish Kevin is at the forefront of the scene. GRM stated; "His flows and cadence on the mic are undeniable, along with his overall persona," was the reason why they featured him.

Since Drill music became popular in late 2019, many artistes have adopted the style for its energy, others for the trendiness, but to the current generation, this is all they relate to.

Their songs; Dream ya Kutoka kwa Block, Piga Lean, Woosh Woosh and Nairobi remain their most hit songs to date with the latter in particular garnering over a million views.
