Madowo and Linus Kaikai ordered to report to DCI

The Three are wanted by the Police

The High Court through Justice Luka Kimaru has ordered three Nation Media Group (NMG) Journalists to report to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday 2pm.

The three Linus Kaikai, Larry Madowo and Ken Mijungu have been asked to present themselves with their lawyers at the DCI headquarters.

The court also barred police from arresting the NMG journalists, who had moved to Court on Thursday to stop the State from arresting and prosecuting them over airing “Raila Odinga”s swearing-in”.

Through their Lawyer Stephen Gitonga, the three had sued Attorney General, the Director of Public prosecution and the Inspector General of Police.

In the filed case documents, NMG Broadcasting General Manager Kaikai, revealed that he was informed by reporters that a number of persons have been asking where his office is located on the building.

He also added that he spotted plainclothes police officers surrounding his vehicle at the basement car park.

On Wednesday the trio were forced to spend the night at the office after flying squad officers were deployed to arrest them.

After the information spread, numerous local and foreign journalists, as well as human rights activists visited the NTV newsroom to show solidarity with their embattled colleagues.

Kaikai is reportedly wanted over a statement he issued as the Kenya Editors Guild chairman, accusing the government of muzzling the media.
