She went on to say that after releasing her first song, she took another break to find her purpose which was to go back to school, and she is glad to have finally completed her first degree, despite the many challenges that came along the way.
“My undergrad in Real estate started in 2012. I took a break in 2015 to compete in DSTV's show, Maisha Superstar, which by God's grace I won launching my mainstream career with Ruka as my first single. Went back and took another year off because I thought I needed time to understand my purpose, to travel and to focus on music intensively. I did find my purpose. And it involved me going back to school with a new need to go all the way to a doctorate. It's been intense: insane heartache, confusion, beautiful music, world travel to places I never thought my voice would take me etc but most of all GOD! Phase one is down, thank you to everyone that's been part of this journey,” she said.
Maisha Superstar
Phy came into the limelight after she won MNET’s reality music show Maisha Superstar under the coaching of Kaka Empire boss King Kaka, in 2015.
She beat three other finalists to the Sh1.2 million during the show’s grand finale, which also landed her a recording deal among other prizes.
