Popular Kenyan comedian charged with defilement
He was not allowed to take a plea by the court.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate Joe Omido, Wanderi was not allowed to take a plea as prosecution had applied for more time to amend the charge sheet.
He was arrested at his house in Lanet after the minor, who is currently on a school break, was discovered to be pregnant and revealed the ordeal to the mother who reported the matter to the police.
In his ruling, Magistrate Omido directed that the accused be remanded at Central Police Station until March 6 so as to allow the amendments to the charge sheet.
Wanderi, who is a well-known comedian in Nakuru town, is said to have threatened the minor not to reveal their ordeal with anyone.
Kenyans reacted angrily after a video of comedian Eric Omondi emerged showing him swimming in what looks like a river while totally naked.
Under the hashtag #EricOmondi Kenyans on Twitter have expressed their disappointments, in the once Churchill show comedian who is a house hold name.
Most Kenyans are angered but a few others find the comedian’s video comical owing to his comedy career.
