They relieve stress

Feeling stressed? Instead of reaching out for a candy or a beer, there are foods you can get to feel better.

These foods help lower your blood pressure and stabilize your emotions whenever you feel like losing your head:

1. Avocado and bananas

These great fruits are rich in Potassium which helps in lowering the blood pressure. Also, avocados contain B vitamins which are great in relieving stress. Next time you have your tempers up the roof or can’t get something out of your head, a banana and avocado fruit salad will do you great.

2. Blueberries

You may despise these small fruits but their size is incomparable to what they can do. When we are stressed, our bodies need antioxidants and Vitamin C to repair and protect our cells. Blueberries are rich in these elements and a handful of them will calm you down.

3. Oranges

Oranges are rich in Vitamin C which lowers your blood pressure as well as the stress hormone, cortisol. Simply grab an orange and eat it or drink a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice without sugar.

4. Salmon

Salmon is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids are great at keeping cortisol and adrenaline in control when you are stressed up or tensed. Regular consumption of diets rich in omega-3 fatty acids also protect your heart when stress hormones go up.

5. Spinach

This might be the last thing you would ever think of when it comes to handling stress. However, spinach is packed with Magnesium, a mineral that helps in regulating the levels of cortisol in the body.

6. Nuts

Snack on nuts each time you are stressed. Stress depletes our B vitamins and eating nuts helps replenish the lost vitamins. Also, nuts are rich in essential Omega 3 and Omega 6 acids which help in reducing stress. If you can get some cashew nuts or sunflower seeds, your nerves will calm down.
