When Diamond Platnumz stepped out in a mohawk box braid hairstyle, the internet went abuzz – some loved it and others? Not so much!

Conventionally, braids are worn by women while the men keep their hair short or wear it in form of dreads. However, times are changing and we are seeing more and more men rock braids. Back in the early 90s and 2000s, cornrows for men were so in vogue. Literally every RnB song back then had at least one guy rocking cornrows. But, like with every trend, that came to pass and we saw more subtle styles such as the man bun in form of cornrows come to be and artistes like Omarion have made the style their signature look.

Other styles include ASAP Rocky’s famous braids which are uber cute and suit his style and personality.

While the above examples are more acceptable, now, we are seeing men confidently and unapologetically expressing themselves by unleashing the rebel within and rocking box braids. The style would definitely suit people in the creative space such as artistes, those in the fashion industry, showbiz etc…Either way, I kinda like it to be honest.
