In toilets where you can't be 100% sure of the hygienic process you are right to be worried.
Here are the common infections that can be spread by toilet seats.
- E. Coli which can cause diarrhea and stomach cramps
- Common cold
- Hepatitis A
- Streptococcus which can cause skin infections, pneumonia and food poisoning
It is unlikely to catch an STD from a toilet seat as your skin would have to be broken for the microorganisms to infect you.
