The serious health reason why you should always wear closed shoes with socks
Hakuna maneno ya KBS.
If you are one of the “trendy’ people, you are actually putting yourself at higher risk of getting fungal infections such as athlete’s foot – and we don’t want that now do we.
The sweat, stuffiness from certain shoe fabrics and lack of socks apparently creates a very conducive environment for fungal infections. This is according to the College of Podiatry.
Speaking to the Telegraph, podiatrist Emma Stevenson says that: “If the lining is not breathable then moisture, heat, and bacteria will all be trapped inside the shoe.”
The lining of your shoes could not be the only problem however as apparently pointed toe and slip-on shoes also play a big role in getting this nasty infection.
If you’re still with trend though, there are ways to handle smelly feet and avoid getting athlete’s foot.
