4 effective ways to get rid of puffy eyes

Do you wake up looking like you've been partying all night?

Bye bye puffy eyes

Puffy eyes are not a pretty sight. There are many reasons that cause the eyes to be puffy, such as lack of sleep, too much alcohol and eating salty foods as well as dehydration, which causes water retention in the body. Makeup that contains formaldehyde, could also cause puffiness of the eyes. When you're on your computer or watching TV, take breaks. In addition, always stay hydrated and try getting at least eight hours of sleep every day if you do not want to walk around with massive eye bags which not only make you look tired and like you were partying all night but are also a strong indication of an unhealthy lifestyle. Luckily, there several natural remedies for puffy eyes:

1. Using tea bags.

Soak two tea bags in hot water for about three minutes then squeeze out the water and allow them to cool. You can also put them in the fridge once they have cooled a little bit, for a few minutes. Once cold, lay flat and place each tea bag on each eye till the coldness disappears. This will help reduce the puffiness in your eyes.

2. Cucumbers.

Cut two slices of a cucumber and place one on each eye for about 5 minutes while laying flat. Coolness, along with the vitamin C and caffeic acid in the vegetable, helps soothe skin and reduce puffiness.

3. Using cold spoons.

While going to bed, put about four spoons in the fridge. In the morning, take the spoons out and place the curved side of the cold spoon on your eye till it starts to get warm. Then, take the other spoon and repeat for each eye.

4. Using salty water.

Paradoxically, the same salt that sometimes causes puffy eyes can also reduce the puffiness. Mix a teaspoon of salt with a bit of water, stir and dip a piece of cotton wool in the salty water solution then rub your eyes with it, ensuring not to touch the inner eye. This will help reduce the puffiness.
