Judge grants divorce to woman after husband ignored her texts
Those blue ticks could break your marriage.
According to BBC, the woman who’s only been identified as Lin was texting her husband using a messaging service line such as Whatsapp which allows the user to see if the recipient has read the messages. Lin submitted her texts messages to court as evidence that her husband had been reading her messages and ignoring for six months.
The court ruled that the couple’s marriage was beyond repair since Lin’s husband did not even respond when she texted to inform him that she had been in a car accident and had been rushed to hospital.
The ruling stated, "The defendant did not inquire about the plaintiff, and the information sent by the plaintiff was read but not replied to. The couple's marriage is beyond repair."
The judge presiding over the case stated the texts from forth by Lin were very crucial evidence to the case as they show the state of the marriage. She also determined that a normal couple shouldn't treat each other like that.
“The messages were a very important piece of evidence," the judge added. "It shows the overall state of the marriage… that the two parties don't have good communication. Now internet communication is very common, so these can be used as evidence. In the past, we needed written hardcopy evidence."
To top it off, Lin’s husband did not even show up for any of the court hearings.
The couple had been married since 2012. She is in her 50s and had been previously married. He is in his 40s.
