A video showing the pupils turn against their teachers made its way around social media sites and immediately went viral.

The pupils reportedly forced five female teachers to kneel down before the rest of the class and made them raise their hands as they apologized.

With the five female teachers not being from the Samburu community, it is suspected that this may have fueled the boys’ anger.

According to Samburu culture, it is wrong to punish Morans in front of girls as it shows a sign of disrespect to them.

Women are not supposed to talk back at them, touch or sit close to them.

The pupils had on Monday June 19 ambushed the teachers and beaten them up using clubs.

The incident led to the indefinite closure of the school after the pupils vandalized the school by breaking the classroom windows.

It is reported that this is not the first time this has happened as there have been two previous similar incidences within the same school.

Parents have called upon the Ministry of Education to investigate on the matter in order to find the root cause.

The teachers have called upon Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Wilson Sossion seeking transfers from the school, citing insecurity.
