House parties can turn out to be super fun if planned well.

I love the idea of a group of mutual friends gathering in one house to enjoy a night of fun party games, drinks, food and socializing. One rule of attending a house party that I live by is to never attend a house party when I do not know either the host or at least two or more friends. In the past, there have been cases of girls being drugged and raped in house parties and while you want to have a great time, you also have to remember to be extremely careful. If you're one to love hosting people at your place for fun night parties before hitting the club, we have some tips on how you can plan a memorable and fun house party.

1. Make a guest list.

You definitely want to be able to make sure that you know how many people to expect due to space. Most modern houses cannot host more than 30 people if one has no compound or a large patio. Create a Whatsapp group and have people RSVP in due time.

2. Food and drinks.

The best way to go about this is to have people bring with them whatever they will be drinking. You could also ask them to bring a snack since cooking for a large group is a lot of work; however, prepare some snacks such as crisps with guacamole and peanuts, popcorn, tortillas etc. Guests can munch on them as they drink.

3. Forget about decoration.

It's not important but if you have extra money to spend, you could buy fun photo props such as eye goggles and such. Do however buy party cups and plates so that you don't have to do dishes at the end of the party.

4. Prepare the house and make it comfortable but also party-ready.

Remove the carpet and things that could easily break or be stolen, lock the bedrooms, leaving the guest toilet open and make it cosy enough with enough seats and even a dance floor for those that want to dance.

5. Have a variety of entertainment.

Music alone is not enough. And speaking of music, remember that everyone does not have the same music taste as you. Be sure that you have downloaded a great mix that covers different music genres. Also have some party games be it board games or games such as beer pong that will keep people entertained, drunk and happy.

6. Alert your neighbours and apartment caretaker.

The last thing you want is to have irate neighbours knocking at your door and killing the mood.

7. Do not make too much noise.

Be considerate of your neighbours and don't make too much noise or have the music volume so loud lest your neighbours call the cops on you.
