Why Tribal Chic 2017 was the best fashion event of the year [Photos]
Sauti Sol were in attendance
Tribal Chic 2017 was hosted by Willis Chimano and celebrity stylist Annabel Onyango.
Held annually, the gala showcases collections from some of Africa’s best designers.
The stage was a spiralling staircase that led to a warmly lit runway draped with 5000 handmade origami birds to symbolize peace.
Designers from Benin, Somalia, Kenya, and Rwanda wowed a crowd that was gifted with Tribal Chic gift bags and a glass of complimentary champagne from Moet & Chandon.
Celebrities studded the event with Pulse Live spotting Sauti Sol’s Polycarp Otieno and Bien Baraza and Sheila Mwanyiga.
The collections featured were by Aprelle Duany who showcases Wonders of Watamu Limited Edition Holiday Capsule Collection.
There were also collections from Deepa Dosaya, Haute Baso, Iamisigo, Lilabare, Moshions, Niku Singh, Penny Winter, Qaal Designs and Ubuntu.
The event was timely, gorgeous and a demonstration of African sophistication. It is definitely one to mark in every fashion lover’s calendar.
