Their high amounts of fiber make them great for digestion. You are less likely to experience constipation after eating sweet potatoes because fiber promotes smooth digestion and regular bowel movements.

3. Diabetes

Diabetes is more common nowadays and sweet potatoes are good for both patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Research has shown that people with diabetes type 1 who eat foods that are rich in fiber such as sweet potatoes have lower blood glucose levels. Also, people who have type 2 diabetes have increased blood sugar and insulin levels after eating sweet potatoes.

4. Regulates blood pressure

When eaten with their skin, sweet potatoes have more Potassium than bananas. Potassium helps in lowering the Sodium levels in the body thus lowering the blood pressure and increasing the effectiveness of your heart.

5. Beta carotene

Sweet potatoes are rich in an antioxidant known as beta carotene. Our bodies then convert beta carotene to Vitamin A. Vitamin A prevents dry eyes, helps the body fight infections, increases fertility in women and also promotes the health of pregnant and nursing moms.

6. Stress management

They contain Magnesium which plays an important role in stress and anxiety management. Deficiency in Magnesium has also been linked to depression. Magnesium helps in the maintenance of muscles, blood vessels and heart health.
