Here are just five of the cheerful movies on ShowMax for you and your family to curl up with and enjoy this holiday:

Brad (Vince Vaughn) and Kate (Reese Witherspoon) are forced to spend Christmas with their families - for the first time as a couple. With Brad’s mother (Sissy Spacek) sleeping with his best friend, his blue-collar brothers (Jon Favreau and Tim McGraw) bullying him, and Kate’s mother (Mary Steenburgen) embarrassing her, it looks set to be a blue Christmas for the couple – until they realise that they both, ultimately, want the same thing.

In this adorable CGI animated film, a young boy arrives in Heaven before his time. He meets the cheerful puppy Halo, who helps him find his way back down to Earth so that he can retrieve his treasure box, which contains the perfect present for Baby Jesus. This sweet story reminds us that “the best gifts in life come from faith, friendship and doing the right thing.”

Princess Crystal is destined to rule the kingdom of penguins, but her subjects are concerned that she still believes in Santa. Her jealous sister Lucinda decides to join Crystal on her quest to find him, hoping to embarrass her. But on their journey, the sisters learn a lot about each other, and that they’re not so different after all. With the voice talents of real-life sisters Hilary and Haylie Duff.

Holidays are all about family, but families don't always get along. The Rodriguez clan go to their parents' home for the holidays, expecting the good times they remember from when they were young. But they’ve brought plenty of their own baggage along - and then find out that their parents are splitting up.  Could this be the last holiday they will all spend together?

Don’t miss Julia Donaldson's charming and magical story about a piece of wood called Stick Man, who ends up on a grand adventure as he tries his best to get home to his stick family in time for Christmas. The award-winning animation is also an African success story as it was animated by  South African animation company Triggerfish.
