1. Your phone

You probably can’t do without your phone but you can at least trim the amount of airtime used each day. Instead of making calls every time you need to contact someone, consider sending a text message instead. It’s much cheaper and you will have more to save if you only call when it’s necessary. For you to stay updated, you don’t have to stay on the internet all day long. So, cut your data expenses and you will be surprised at how much you can save.

2. Take a walk

Walking is a great way to achieve physical fitness and save money that could have been used as bus fare. A 20 minutes’ walk each day will do you no harm and you will get used to it with time. If you are driving, you can reduce your cost of fuel by walking for shorter distances or using public means once in a while.

3. Don’t eat out

Unless it’s very necessary or you are starving, don’t eat out. Pass by the grocery and get some veggies and go make your dinner at home. It’s not only cheaper but food made at home is always the best for some reasons.

4. Make a garden

If there is some space laying idly, why not make a kitchen garden out of it? Have it ploughed and plant some Sukuma wikis, tomatoes, onions and other vegetables that you buy on a daily basis.

5. Stick indoors..sometimes

I know you can’t wait for the weekend to go have some good moments with friends. But have you done the maths on how much you spend and how much you could save if you didn’t go out every weekend? Get a few movies to keep you busy over the weekend and resist the urge completely.
