Whats up with them today, you ask? Well, the two are currently in the thick of a major custody battle over their two children: Kensington, a.k.a. Kensie, 5, and St. Julien Rembert, a.k.a. Saint, 3. Also: Thomas will not be returning to Southern Charm for season six, since he's currently awaiting trial on assault allegations (but more on that later), according to Entertainment Tonight .
But were Thomas and Kathryn ever married? Er, not quite. Let's take a minute to revisit their relationship over the years:
2014: The couple meets on the first season of Southern Charm.
As soon as Thomas, who was 52, laid eyes on Kathryn, only 21 at the time, he was smitten. The two quickly jumped into a relationship which led to Kathryn's pregnancy with the couple's first child.
2015: Thomas and Kathryn welcome their second child, Saint.
The two move in together, but things quickly turn sour when trust issues (Kathryn suspects Thomas is hooking up with another cast mate, Landon) and frequent arguments drive them to their breaking point. The couple starts living separately just before Kathryn gives birth to Saint.
2016: The couple officially ends their relationship and Kathryn seeks treatment.
After calling it quits with Thomas, according to Us Weekly, Kathryn checks into a treatment facility for substance abuse and loses custody of her two children to Thomas.
2017: Thomas dates Ashley Jacobs.
Thomas starts dating his on-again-off-again girlfriend Ashely Jacobs, who moves in with Thomas and the children, and repeatedly insults Kathryn throughout season five including saying Kathryn is less of a mother and more an "egg donor."
2018: Thomas is arrested and Kathryn petitions for custody.
Thomas is arrested for assault and battery for a case opened back in 2015 by the children's former nanny, Dawn. This same year, a second woman comes forward accusing Thomas of sexual assault, according to Us.
Thomas will not be returning to the show since he's currently awaiting trial, according to Entertainment Tonight .
As a result, in October 2018, per Us, Kathryn petitioned for sole custody of Kensie and Saint. The Mother is informed and believes it is the best interests of the minor children that she be granted sole custody and/or primary custody of the minor children with reasonable visitation granted to the Father, the report reads.
2019: Now, it's all about the children.
Today, the former couple's custody battle is ongoing, but fans can bank on the issue being addressed in season six of Southern Charm, which premieres tonight on Bravo at 8/7 c, since a clip from the season features Kathryn mentioning full-custody- a future she might not be ready for. If [Thomas] goes to jail, Ill be a single mom, its just, like, overwhelming, Kathryn says tearfully in the trailer .
